If the entree is the foundation to your meal then the sides are the frame work that build upon that.  Have the right sidekicks and the meal is a winner.  Lots of sides go with meat, but alot depends if it should be a cold or hot side.  Should it be a starch or veggie.  Is it a picnic style with potato salad and beans or is it an evening affair of a fancier sort with dutch oven potatoes and a Caesar salad.  Under the sample menu combinations you will find some ideas to help you put your ideas into a menu and if that doesn't work, write all the choices down on little scraps of paper, toss em' all into your ol' 10 gallon stetson and pull them out and hope for the best.

Here are some ideas for hot sidekicks:

Dutch oven potatoes
Mashed potatoes
Sweet potatoes
Calabacitos
Corn on the cob
Cowboy beans
Anasazi beans
Baked beans
Assorted Vegetables
